    Pascoa feliz amigos,

I'm coming out to Portugal at the end of April with two friends and we would like to explore some Portuguese single track but don't know where to start or what information is available. One trail we would like to do is the 'trilho dos burros' but have absolutely no idea where it is (ok we know it's in Sintra), starts or finishes so if anyone can help with gps maps or trail guides would be very happy.

Some other places we would like to visit because they are quite close to Obidos is the Montejunto and the Parque Natural das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, in fact any places you guys feel we should visit within 100km's of Obidos would be great.

We're here for two weeks and really looking forward to getting out in some decent weather (it's still snowing here in the UK)

    Cheers,

    Jay

Thanks for the info Chaves and Sam,

I've looked at gpsies and have actually done this track last year http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=pyjqjcplwnzcwpib which was good in places but didn't flow very well, I will have a look at the other routes mentioned. I saw a nice route in the lower part of the Montejunto when I was hiking there which looks good and once I've got the route dialled will let you know how it goes.

In the UK we have mountain bike clubs that work with the local land owners and goverment agencies to build mountain bike routes so that damage to land is kept to a minimum and also that walkers/ mtbikers and horse riders are kept apart, are there any organisations or clubs here that build trails as It's something I do in the UK and would like to do here in Portugal too if available?

Will be living here permanently in the autumn so will have plenty of time to explore and make new friends

    Cheers

    Jay

    Hi Jay
The "Trilho dos Burros" - Donkeys Trail is in the beautiful Sintra Hills. It´s known by that name because it starts in a protected zone where there are some donkeys (used for tourist tours in the hills).
    It begins at 38º 45' 55.07" N 9º 27' 39.70"W
Say something when you arrive in Portugal and maybe we can show you some more nice trails in Lisbon zone.
    Cheers!
