Ola, I was informed of this forum by a fellow I met in the park today, so I thought I would say Hi Pedro!

I am an American just moved to Lisbon for up to five years. I have been here three months so far. My wife's work has brought us here, and I have yet to decide what I want to do when I grow up  I am trying to learn the language, but have not gotten good enough to post anything decipherable yet, so I will try not to be too annoying in other forums when I want to join a discussion.

I live in the Alvalade neighborhood and have biked a few times now in Monsanto. It is wonderful to have such trails right in town! I lived in Boulder, Colorado before coming here, and there we had to drive out of the city to ride good trails. Biking is so popular there that many pedestrians have been offended by "overly-enthusiastic" bicyclists, and so there are many restrictions.

I have met up with some of the Massa Critica Lx folks, and helped out with a bicycle fixing day in December. I hope to join the ride this month, and look forward to any chance to learn more about the riding here in Portugal!! I have no job here yet, so I am ready to go ride anytime anyone wants company!! :D

Hello snowbeard!

Welcome to our neighborhood, that sure is a big change from your mountains in Colorado!
Hope you have a very good time here, you will find lots of good places to ride around Lisboa (Sintra,15 minutes driving away, packs some of the best singletrack in the country),and if you miss some proper mountains, head North for Lousã,just 2h...that's the beauty of this little country, everything is near, people (well most people) are friendly, and the riding is great!

Good luck finding a nice job,by the way

ps: Yes,we drive like lunatics!

thank you for the welcome

so I think I got the wrong impression my first read of this title, I thought it meant "foreigners restrict yourselves to this board instead of butchering our language on the rest of the boards", but thinking more about it I realize that is not the Português way, open, friendly and happy to meet you is more what I have found. So I will begin to butt in to the rest of the threads, as I am getting better at reading, if not writing/speaking the language!

please take pity on me!

Dear. Mr. Butcher ...

Welcome aboard :)

Unfortunately there are some Portuguese (mostly the youngsters) that already butcher our language, in the other boards, although we (Mods) make an effort ofr everyone to write in plain and correct Portuguese ;)
And the more we write / read correct, the better we do it, so reading the other boards is probably a good way for you to learn the language.

Anyway, if you're looking for people you can ride with, this is the board :yeah:

please take pity on me!

Don't butcher that much and we'll be merciful

Bear in mind: we're watching you

Hi Snow,

Feel free to write at will in any thread. You can write it in english, portuguese or in some mix that you could manage by now

Every one will help you on your lerning process.

I can assure you that by now you write and read better portuguese than some...:p
